Taking a Stand
I can’t change the world, but like the old country music song goes -
“You have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”
And so here’s things you’ll see me taking personal around Momwich.com
Texting/Phone Usage while driving:
I’m sure that my refusal to use a cell phone while operating several tons of steel at high speeds has probably saved my life more than once, and if you’re on Oklahoma highways, my refrain may have saved your life as well. If you wonder why – just Google texting while driving videos. But not while you’re driving. For God’s sake. I just don’t get it.
At one point, I had a million lymph nodes in my body swell up on me. And of all the things they could test for, they routinely tested me for HIV – despite my having little to no risk and for those few months, I got to see what it was like to be on that side of things. I pray to God and do everything I can to raise awareness and stamp out the stereotyping of HIV and Aids. No one deserves it.
Abstinence Vs. Protection
You don’t have to agree with me. But I had a child when I was 16 and I’ve given public speech after speech about it… you can have a straight A student, who tells you everything, who wears a purity ring and really has it right in their heart – but give them a condom anyway. It’s not much different than any other means you take to protect your child from harm. It’s not saying you condone premarital sex, it’s saying you care enough to protect them. Just in case.
Because I used to work for a waste company. What we throw away amounts to feet and feet of garbage. If it can be reused or recycled, we do it around here.
And Last but absolutely not least, PPCM
It breaks my heart to think about how many women have lost their life to child birth unnecessarily. I focused for three years on spreading the word about PPCM and will continue until the day I die. If you don’t know the symptoms, learn about them here, here, or here. But never ignore your body. If you don’t feel right, there’s probably a reason.
